David Foster Wallace puts some people off initially, I think, because his work is so dense and sort of top heavy, and it requires the reader to put aside certain expectations they have. But just because it doesn't necessarily come easily doesn't mean it's not worth it. His work is so rewarding, one of those people who instantly makes you feel smarter, or instantly makes you feel better, or at least differently, about the world.
